Graduate (UTAS), M.Arch, B.EnvDes.

Alastair has joined Licht Architecture as a Graduate of Architecture, following the completion of his Master of Architecture at the University of Tasmania. He brings experience across several local practices gained whilst completing his studies. During this time, he has contributed to a diverse range of projects while at Core Collective, X-Squared and Matt Williams Architects, from the Hobart Women’s Shelter communal spaces and St John’s Park Mental Health Facility to smaller civic interventions such as the Balanced Valley Bus Shelter and Willow Court public ablutions, developing an adaptable and context-responsive design approach.

He has a strong interest in urban design, adaptive reuse, and socially driven architecture, with a focus on creating meaningful and sustainable outcomes within the built environment. His hands-on approach to learning, particularly through collaborative design-build projects such as the Outdoor Classroom for East Tamar Primary School, has fostered a deep appreciation for materiality, detail, and the realities of construction. Alongside his architectural pursuits, Alastair has been actively involved in student-led initiatives and event coordination, including his role as co-director of Ground Matters, experiences that have strengthened his collaborative and organisational skills.
